The 2025 Juan O Savin Cookie Contest Rules.  Read the entire instructions before submitting your recipe in The 2025 Juan O Savin Cookie Contest submission form below.  Recipe Submission will end July 10th at midnight EST.  We encourage you to take your time to think through your recipe idea before submitting it.

E-Form Submission:  There is only one submission allowed per adult 18 years of age or older.  In the submission form below, fill in each line item.  Any line item not filled out correctly runs the risk of being disqualified:  First Name, Last Name, Best Phone Number, Best Email Address, Mailing Address, Suggested Recipe Title, Baking Instructions (200 words or less), and what makes your cookie recipe “be deliciously healthy”? (25 words or less).

Cookie Defined:  The 2025 Juan O Savin Cookie Contest defines a cookie as the following:  Chewy, Crispy, Crunchy, Gooey, Moist, Soft, Thin or Thick.  The taste may be fruity or chocolatey and is mostly sweet—undertones of savoriness are not objected to.  The shape may be—and not limited to—circular, round, and even square-ish like a brownie (aka “cookie”). A batch of cookies for this contest should be between a dozen cookies (12 cookies) to three dozen cookies (36 cookies)

Authenticity:  Your cookie recipe must be your own creation.  Sure, your recipe may have been your Great Grandmother’s cookie recipe passed down to you, and she may have gotten that recipe from the box the mix came in.  Since then, you have made this recipe your own.  You may have have altered the recipe completely or adjusted the recipe with a little cinnamon or switched out the raisins for dried apricots.  In the end, you have claimed ownership of your cookie recipe.

“Be Deliciously Healthy” Defined:  Cookie Recipes that make the final round will have a “Be Deliciously Healthy” aspect to them.  Some “Be Deliciously Healthy” ideas are as follows:  Whole Grain, Gluten Free, Grain Free, Dairy Free, Oil Free, Refined Sugar Free, Keto, Paleo, Raw or Unbaked in the Food Dehydrator.  This is a very loose term and will take some creativity.  One “Be Deliciously Healthy” recipe idea, for example, could be that all ingredients listed are mentioned in the Bible. Another example could be that no refined sugars are used.  ***Note, there is no need to list an ingredient as “Organic” or “GMO free” as we will assume all ingredients are organic and not genetically modified.  Disqualifications may include:  Listing vegetable oil (aka “seed oil”) in a recipe; listing high fructose corn syrup (and even corn syrup) in a recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happens after I submit my recipe?  After you electronically submit your recipe, a Cookie Committee will comb through all recipe submissions after July 1st.  There is no benefit in early submissions versus late submissions.  A list of recipe finalists will be selected.

  • What are the contest criteria to make the finalist round?  The Cookie Committee will be instructed to read through each recipe submission with the following list of questions:  Did the contestant fill in all the line items?  Did the contestant follow all the instructions?  Is the recipe easy to follow?  For example, could a 12 year old make this recipe?  Did the contestant submit only one recipe submission or did they submit a second and third entry to correct their mistakes on their first submission?  Is there a “Be Deliciously Healthy” aspect to the recipe?

  • Possible Disqualifications:  Please make sure you read through the rules and fill out the e-submission form correctly.  Possibly deductions could include multiple submission entries from an applicant.

  • Will Juan O Savin eat my cookie?  Sometime before October 17, 2025, Juan will get to work… it’s a tough job but he will eat the cookies of the finalists.  This will also be a blind taste test, in other words, Juan will not know the names of who made the cookies.  For those recipes that make the finalist found, the Cookie Committee will select volunteers to make the finalists’ recipes.  The number of finalists may be determined on the number of applicants.

  • How long do I have to submit my recipe?  July 10, 2025 at midnight EST

  • Where will the finalists be announced?  For those contestants that make the finalist round, it may be announced at TheJennifermac.com and Jennifer Mac’s Telegram channel.  From these platforms, we will notify when Juan will be test tasting the cookies.

  • When are the winners announced?  October 17, 2025

  • Where will the winners be announced?  Winners and Special Mention(s) will be announced at TheJennifermac.com and Jennifer Mac’s Telegram channel.  From these platforms, we will post on those platforms when Juan will be test tasting the cookies.
