According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of every two American adults suffer from either heart disease, stroke, cancer, obesity, type 2 diabetes, or arthritis.  Health and wholeness are not all about food, but why the kale not give ourselves a fighting chance with the foods we consume?  Don't start perfect, just start.  Join me.


BEST HEALTHY TRAIL MIX

RECIPE
Cashews
Almonds
Sunflower Seeds
Dates
Goji Berries
Chocolate Chips, such as stevia-sweetened chocolate chips (no sugar)
Dried Seaweed, such as Hijiki, Arame, or Nori (see TIPS)

DIRECTIONS:  Proportions can be divided into 2/3 nuts and seeds and 1/3 fruit and chocolate chips with a handful of the dried seaweed.  Mix it up!


TIPS: Dried seaweed can be found in the bulk sections of organic coops or in the Asian section of most supermarkets.  In a world where almost everything is labeled a "superfood", seaweed, aka sea vegetables, are truly a superior food in terms of mineral and nutrient density.  Alternate between different types of seaweeds to get more variety of flavor and nutrients, such a Hijiki, Arame, and Nori.
